On the Road

Very slow, easy breakfast this morning at the hostel. Absolutely no rush.

Have made my way to the ZOB, which is the central bus location. Curious how with experience I no longer get particularly nervous or anxious about catching the buses. Just waiting here now for my ride to Eckernförde.

Had a bit of luck in that I wanted to see the inside of Saint Nicholai church, but it was closed. A staffer pulled up in her car, and in my poor German, I asked for permission to enter. She invited me in for a couple minutes to sit until she had to leave.

Visited the Baltic Sea Information Center Museum. It was interesting but I was a little underwhelmed. It could have been bigger. However, there's a tour group that's getting a really outstanding presentation, which of course is all in German.

Took time out to get some postcards written and put into the German mail system.

Quick lunch just to have something before the bus ride to Rendsburg. So please forgive me now for getting out of the moment. Cheeseburger, french fries with mayonnaise, Pepsi and churros.

Just got on the bus for Rendsburg. In about 40 minutes I should be at my hotel.

On the way to my hotel in Rendsburg, I discovered that the Judaism Museum was in the neighborhood of my hotel, but that it was closing in an hour. So I detoured to take in this unique cultural opportunity. Pictures towards end of blog.

Tooka nap, because I was tired for some reason, I was tired.

Then headed out to Rendburg's Weihnachtsmarkt. I enjoyed the music and the atmosphere. I had a glühwein and a bratwurst.

Meaningful Moment

I always get so wrapped up in my hike and my next destination, and how far the next place is, that I forget all the people around me are living their lives, their daily routine, their existence.

And their world has nothing to do with hiking, and it has everything to do with earning a living.
